The Patek Philippe 5971P Watch: A Diamond-Set Timepiece That Few Men Would Object To Wearing

Many men seem to shy away from the idea of diamonds on their watches. While I can’t say that I am a huge fan of diamond-set watches myself, I do feel there are some mens timepieces which look spectacular set with diamonds. One such piece is the incredible Patek Philippe Ref. 5971P watch.
Based upon the coveted white or rose gold Ref. 5970 watch, this exquisite example of Genevan haute horlogerie presents itself in a platinum case, with a bezel entirely set with baguette diamonds. The effect is absolutely spectacular, while being perfectly tasteful. It is neither too much, nor too little–the masterful gem-setting highlights the very precious nature of this masterpiece of the watchmaking arts.
Turn this Patek Philippe watch over, and you can admire the gorgeous hand-wound CH 27-70Q movement that offers a perpetual calendar with day, date, month, leap year, and moon phases, in addition to a chronograph function. Based upon a legendary Lemania base caliber that has been entirely rebuilt and refined by Patek Philippe, the exquisite mechanism is hallmarked with the Geneva Seal.

Pre-Basel 2008: Zenith ChronoMaster Watch Collection Gains New Models
For 2008, Zenith will introduce several new watches in their ChronoMaster collection. The Zenith ChronoMaster Tourbillon El Primero Moonphase is the most complicated, featuring a tourbillon and chronograph, in conjunction with a moonphase indicator. Presented in a 45mm case made from 18K rose or white gold, and fitted with a "Grain d'Orge" guilloched gold dial, this complicated watch will be offered in an edition of 25 pieces each for both colors of gold. The Zenith ChronoMaster Open Grande Date expands upon the brand's well-received ChronoMaster Open watch models. Retaining the cutout dial of existing models, this watch offers a fascinating large date display that utilizes two concentrically arranged discs, which can be viewed through the dial, thanks to a transparent section on the dial; the watch also offers a chronograph function, and a power reserve indicator. Presented in either stainless steel or 18K rose gold, the Chronomaster Open Grande Date watch will be available in a 40mm "T" size, and a 45mm "XT" version.
Finally, Zenith has enriched its ChronoMaster Moon Phase watch line with two models created specifically for women. The 18K rose gold or stainless steel case is created for slender wrists, and at 37.5mm in diameter, is smaller than other ChronoMaster watches.
The classically elegant mother of pearl dial retains the intricate "Grain d'Orge" guilloche pattern of the classic ChronoMaster models,
while a bezel set with round brilliant diamonds adds another touch of feminine charm.

Ebel And Bayern Munich A Five Year Partnership

Ebel is continuing and intensifying its commitment to the world of football. Following in Arsenals footsteps, Bayern Munich is the latest team to have signed a strategic alliance with the Architects of Time.
On 10 February, Thomas van der Kallen, the Chairman of Ebel, and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, the Chairman of Bayern Munich, held a press conference in the Bavarian capital to announce the partnership between the watch manufacturer based in La Chaux-de-Fonds and Germanys most prestigious football club. In its capacity as Bayerns official partner, Ebel will take on responsibility over the next five years the agreement enters into force on 1st July for all aspects related to timekeeping during matches played by the Munich team at its stadium,
the Allianz-Arena.
Expressing his delight at this new partnership, Thomas van der Kallen emphasised that following an initial alliance with the London club Arsenal last year, Bayern Munich marked an important step for Ebel in its approach to the world of football and that it now envisaged
possible agreements with other leading European teams.
To symbolise this association, Ebel has developed a watch dedicated specially to football. Far from restricting themselves the watchs visual appearance, the firms watchmakers devoted many hours to developing an exclusive movement ideally suited to this sport, making
it possible not only to measure precisely the duration of each period of play hence its name 245 (or 2×45 minutes) but also indicating the duration of time added on. The time elapsed is displayed very clearly (see photo) thanks to the extra large 45 minute counter. This
new calibre comes as an addition to the 1911 line. Produced in limited editions with the badges of Arsenal and Bayern Munich, it will be available this autumn.
Bayern Munich has won more trophies than any other club in the Bundesliga, with twenty Championship titles and thirteen German Cup victories to its name. It is also a two-times winner of the Intercontinental Cup, has been victorious in the Champions League four times and the UEFA Cup once, and has also won the European Cup Winner’s Cup. Its name is synonymous with success, excellence and world-class performance well beyond the borders of Germany and Europe.
The Allianz Arena, designed by the renowned Basel architects Herzog & de Meuron and opened in April 2005, superbly embodies the new trend which sees contemporary football like Ebel moreover attaching great importance to architecture. This extremely innovative
construction offers, in the words of its designers, "a futuristic interpretation of the basic concept of football". Its breathtaking exterior is illuminated on match days by a cascade of red light which ripples over the shell to give the stadium a quasi-magical aura. No other place could have been more appropriate therefore to announce the new alliance between the Bavarian club and the Architects of Time.
